This setup is working exceptionally well, it's really fast and reliable (I've been using in the weekends in my home computer, a 2008 Mac Pro 3,1, so the drives didn't stay up for weeks crunching data all the time). It should be noted that the Raid card, while still working (see the screenshot), frequently asks for the battery to be replaced (the battery can be found for sale at low price on Ebay or directly from Apple); this doesn't disrupt the workflow nor causes data losses, but without it the cache is not preserved when the power goes out; if you buy this, you should replace the battery, even if you don't have to. Please, be sure the raid card is compatible with your Mac (and be aware that, when it is installed, the computer cannot go to sleep, as a factory default) and know that I provide only the hard drives, not their metallic supports needed to be mounted inside a Mac Pro tower.
